What visitors say

Basildon Park is a lovely place to explore, with a beautifully restored Georgian house and peaceful grounds that are great for a relaxed walk. The interiors are elegant without feeling overly formal, and the volunteers add helpful context about the history and the filming locations used in various productions. The estate paths are easy and scenic, with plenty of spots for photos and quiet areas to sit. A really enjoyable visit for anyone who likes heritage houses, gentle walks and a calm, well‑kept setting.

We visited Basildon Park (National Trust) and were absolutely delighted. The location is very convenient, with easy parking right next to the entrance. Everything is well organised, and the paths are comfortable and pleasant to walk. The manor house itself is truly impressive - beautiful, very well maintained, with thoughtful details and stories about each room that make the experience even more engaging. We spent quite a lot of time inside, and then enjoyed a walk along the trails. Overall, it was a wonderful day at Basildon Park. We’ll definitely come back again.

A lovely park/gardens and a beautiful house that have appeared in so many movies & TV shows (it seems there has almost been one a year since 2001). The sea shell room is a must to see in the main house.

Very nice, eatery here has more of a restaurant vibe. Grounds were lovely - interesting shell and sea creature? collection. A lot of film and tv production has taken place here which adds something extra. Usual gift shop for national trust and adjoining to that is the second bookshop. Great for dog walking this one as well. Recommend a visit.
