What guests say
We spent 2 nights at this lovely place in the very center of the town and everything was great. We arrived before check in time and they kindly let us leave all our luggage in the room already and got the keys. Our room, the family room (number 5) was huge, with two great double beds (and amazing feather blankets!) and a really big bathroom. There were a lot of snacks left for us. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you for everything, 100% recommended!

Really poor experience from start to finish. The bathroom was in an unacceptable hygienic condition when we arrived, which immediately made a bad impression. On top of that, the shower was unusable, which is obviously not a minor issue when you are paying to stay somewhere overnight. The accommodation also did not match the standard and presentation we were led to expect. What made the whole experience even worse was how the complaint was handled afterwards. We raised the issues clearly and explained that we were not happy with the compensation offered, but instead of properly responding to our concerns, they simply refunded £40 anyway and more or less ignored the substance of what we said. That felt dismissive and unprofessional. This was not a small inconvenience. The condition of the room and the lack of a working shower had a real impact on our stay, and the response afterwards made it clear that customer satisfaction was not being taken seriously. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.

Only came for a coffee so unable to speak on the rooms; However, a very disappointing experience. The price point was the highest over my weekend in the area, but had the worst quality of beans and burnt the milk for 3 flat whites. Certainly seems they're just praying on toursists/travelling people. Finally found that out when they arrived after 15 minutes... In addition, don't sit outside in the rear porch as the walk in freezer full of hanging meat causes tremendous wafts of displeasing odours when trying to eat/drink. I recommend the Stow Town Coffee shop on the exit corner. They roast their beans on site and everything is a full pound cheaper!

The location of this B&B in Stow-on-the-Wold is excellent. The 1-star rating is for the service (and some details in the room that need attention). Unfortunately, consumers in the UK have become accustomed to putting up with mediocre, and so business owners offer mediocre service (terrible, in fact) and seem to think it's acceptable, and sadly this is one of those places. It really isn't acceptable. I sent a detailed email after our stay, explaing all the issues we'd experienced. The owners had every opportunity to try and put things right - even just a simple gesture of offering is a voucher to use one of their tea room next time we're in the area would have been satisfactory. But no, these obnoxious owners told me my views were purely subjective and that they have no intention of trying to make things right. In a nutshell, the room was dirty with a previous customers old biscuits under the bed; the "wardrobe" was a shelf bracket screwed to the wall with a few hangers on it; the "manager" who greeted us when we arrived couldn't have been more unwelcoming and brusque if she tried; a "deluxe" room has a tea tray with Nescafe sachets and none of these "snacks" that other reviewers seem to talk about...; the service at breakfast was equally brusque and unfriendly, with not so much as one sentence of conversation to ask how we slept, or to ask if we have everything we need. Over and above all that, we were sent the wrong information about check-in by the "Hospitality Manager" himself, so we ended up standing outside in the freezing cold for 15 minutes while the rude manager had to be phoned to come and rescue us (our room was in a different building completely). I could go on, but there's little point. I think it's a shame when mediocre - and even terrible - becomes the new normal, and owners are so inflated by their own hype that they cannot even see a way forward to try and make things right, even just in a small way. We didn't want a full refund, or a free stay. We just thought a small gesture to acknowledge the hostile welcome and shoddy service thereafter (let alone the dirty room) would go a small way to restoring trust, but the "Hospitality Manager" felt he was above that. The Cotswolds is running alive with accommodation in all shapes and sizes, so you'd think this crowd would want to set themselves apart from the rest, but they don't give a jot.
