About Hotel du Vin Cheltenham

Hotel du Vin's Cheltenham branch occupies a Regency townhouse on Parabola Road, close to Montpellier and a short walk from the Promenade, keeping the group's usual formula of wine-themed interiors and a bistro built around a well-stocked cellar. The building retains period proportions and detailing, updated with the chain's recognisable mix of leather, dark wood and vinous artwork.

Rooms range from standard doubles to loft suites, several with roll-top baths, and the hotel's small walled garden gives it a quieter feel than its central location might suggest. The bistro serves French-leaning bistro food alongside a wine list drawn substantially from the group's own cellars, and there is a snug bar for pre-dinner drinks.

Its position between Montpellier and the town centre makes it an easy base for walking to restaurants, theatres and shops, and it is a regular choice for couples visiting for a weekend rather than groups or families, given its more intimate scale.

It is a lovely hotel in the heart of Cheltenham. Amazing room with two bath tubs in the bedroom so you can have individual baths at the same time. Very nice room, we stayed for a few days. We had our dog with us. The staff were very helpful and friendly and set us up to have meals outside the main restaurant where dogs are not allowed. The food was great but slow. I am not sure if it is common but it was clear that the restaurant and bar were very understaffed. The team were wonderful and friendly so it was hard to hear them appologise for the delay at the start of every interaction. Clearly not the level of service that they wanted to be providing. It was taking up to 30 minutes to get drinks or even water to the table.

Like everything in Cheltenham, it looks posh on the surface but is actually pretty low rent. The room was nice, good shower and nice toiletries. It was quiet and I slept well. The building is not that well cared for. The reception staff were unfriendly. Breakfast service was poor; I sat alone in the dining room for over 5 minutes before a member of staff appeared. Breakfast was alright, nothing special. It was fine.

Our first stay in Cheltenham and our first stay at the Hotel de Vin. From the very first phone call to clarify something prior to booking ,to leaving after a two night stay I can safely say the front of house staff were exceptional. Adele and Melanie went above and beyond to make sure our stay was lovely. Nothing was to much trouble , and we did ask a few things . The room was lovely and the location was perfect to get anywhere into town , just a short walk . We didn’t eat at the hotel as we prefer to eat out when we are away but we will definitely return to stay here. Again thank you Melanie and Adele for making our stay wonderful
