A pub-hotel in Cheltenham's West End suiting racegoers and Cotswolds explorers alike, with free parking and dogs welcome.

About The Wheatsheaf Inn

The Wheatsheaf Inn suits travellers who want a proper pub at the heart of their stay rather than a corporate hotel lobby - racegoers heading to Cheltenham Racecourse, walkers and cyclists using the surrounding countryside, or anyone touring the Cotswolds who wants a comfortable, unfussy base in West End.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and there are accessible rooms available, along with drinks and room service on request. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving breakfast and meals, plus a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days. Free WiFi runs throughout, and meeting rooms are on hand for those combining business with the trip.

Free on-site parking makes it easy to come and go, whether that's to the racecourse, Pittville Park, or further into the Cotswolds for walking and cycling. Pubs, bars and restaurants are close by for evenings out, and pets are welcome, so dogs can come along too. Golf courses and other entertainment are also within easy reach.

I made a special trip to the Wheatsheaf Inn last night to see a performance by a great Blues band, Pete G and the Magnitones. I managed to park on the road outside, fairly close to the venue. Inside I found a nicely presented, slightly gentrified, Cotswold pub with a pleasant atmosphere. On enquiring where I would find the music I was assisted by a very efficient and friendly lady named Julie who lead me through a maze of passages to The Garden Room, which is a conservatory with a roof that can be opened in the summer. It was full of diners awaiting the music. I was given a small table in perfect position to get a good view of the band. I watched as the five piece band set up in a tiny space allotted for them. There were staff dedicated to serve just this room and they were very friendly, attentive and efficient, particularly Mia, who gave careful attention to my food order and rather awkward intolerance issues. The chef was also extremely helpful in ensuring that I was well catered for. Though my options were few their attention ensured that I received a lovely tasty meal. The music was a top class performance from Pete G and the Magnitones, and the whole evening was all-around a very enjoyable experience.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a really lovely pub set in a very pretty Cotswolds style town. The setting itself already makes it feel special, and inside there are multiple rooms with different atmospheres, from a cosy bar area and a chimney room to a garden and a bright conservatory, so you can choose the vibe you prefer. The menu offers a good range of options, including a dedicated kids menu, which makes it very family friendly. Everything feels well thought through and relaxed. Overall a really nice spot to stop for a meal or drink in a beautiful setting.

Booked Sunday lunch, food arrived before we had finished aperitifs, so no chance to have wine with the meal. Not piping hot , just luke warm, meat well cooked and tasty, parsnip not cooked through and wasn’t sure if potatoes were roast or boiled. Disappointing for £100

Beautiful place, delicious food but I was disappointed. The burrata is hugely overpriced and the Sunday roast was an underwhelmingly small portion, it felt like more of a fine dining restaurant rather than a Cotswold restaurant /pub. All in all great place tasty food but I'm probably not gonna come back for a second time to pay the same money as you would at any other place but for a smaller portions.
