This place is a gem. Very affordable, spotlessly clean, friendly and with a great view of the rolling hills of Derbyshire. My girlfriend and I (plus our dog) spent a peaceful and relaxing night here. We will be back!

I normally leave a review when I leave but I am too surprisingly pleased and happy to wait. I'm looking for a base camp in The Peak District for this climbing season, and boy I felt like I hit the jackpot from the gazillion of choices of places to stay. The pods at Ernest's Retreat are perfect and very zen. The view of the valley from your porch is amazing! Having a table with a kettle, tea, coffee & biscuits after a 4-hour drive was perfect! Specially wanted a hot shower and water was hot. Toilet and large washing up room are clean. There's a list of nearby places and shops in the washroom. There is even an ice-cream freezer open 24/7 with honesty pay box. I'm up here again in two weeks and choosing to come back to ER is a no brainer. Laura and the gent who checked me in were gems. *Note if you are a single traveller or want optimum quiet, request for a pod at the top of the hill. The bottom two rows have families. Dogs are allowed 👍 I hope they are open year round.

We loved our stay here! The lady Laura was fantastic as we arrived slightly late as the walk we were on took longer than anticipated, when we rang she told us not to panic and she'd let us in still, and to travel safely which was lovely. The pod was very clean and tidy on arrival, mugs and hot drinks on a little table. The bed was very comfy and there was heating in the pod which made it warm and cosy. I just wished we could have stayed longer here! We will be back!!!

We had an amazing time at Ernests Resort. The location is ideal as a lot of heritage sites and beautiful hiking trails are able to be quickly accessed. The pods were warm, clean, well maintained. Loved the complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate. The area around was tidy and clean with clear designated areas for everything you might need. Toilets are close by the pods and showers were just right with the water temperature. The freezer with ice cream working on an honesty payment method was a sweet touch. The view from the pod is just spectacular. Hosts made us feel very welcome and I am very grateful for this experience. I will highly recomend and most likely come back 😇
