Pilgrims Place

Lovely day spent at Powis Castle. Gardens were beautiful as were the terraces. Found a few plants we wanted for our garden. Had a cuppa at the garden cafe. They didn't have bara cake but we did have some later at the courtyard cafe. We had a picnic lunch under a giant conker tree in the shade as it was a very hot day. Plenty of picnic tables available. Saw a young deer and it's mother while eating. Went into the castle. No photography allowed as most of what we saw was the owners property and they didn't want it all over the internet which is fair enough. It was very well kept. Look out for the mice! Next we went into the Clive museum. Met a lovely lady in by the name of Kathleen who was not only very knowledgeable about the museum but also about the flowers in the gardens. Had a lovely laugh and chat to her and Jennifer in the next room. It really added to a lovely day out. Would like to go back at Christmas as apparently it's quite spectacular.

We spent the afternoon exploring Powis Castle and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The castle itself is fascinating, with beautifully preserved rooms, impressive collections and plenty of history to take in. The terraced gardens are the real highlight though, especially on a sunny day. They’re immaculately maintained and well worth taking your time to wander around. The café was a pleasant surprise too, with good food and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Everything across the site felt well looked after, and the volunteers and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. If I had one small criticism, it would be the signage. Some areas could be a little clearer, particularly if it’s your first visit, but it never took away from the overall experience. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture or simply looking for a relaxing day out, Powis Castle is well worth a visit. We’d happily return.

Lovely place to visit, plenty of parking, the National trust doing a great job looking after it and the grounds. Inside is amazing, walking on wooden floors laid down in Tudor times amazing, art work and rooms beautiful, very interesting. Nice Cafe, museum, and shop, prices not to bad, really worth a visit, but not at the weekend.

We travelled all the way from the Midlands to visit Powis Castle, and it was absolutely worth the trip. The gardens are stunning and beautifully maintained, and the castle itself is full of history and character. Some areas were restricted during our visit due to rewiring works, but it did not take away from the overall experience. A lovely place to spend the day and definitely worth visiting.
