About The Thames Head Inn

Tucked in the grounds of a well-loved Cotswolds pub, The Thames Head Inn sits just four miles from Cirencester market town, perfectly placed for exploring this scenic corner of Gloucestershire. The start of the Thames Path – tracing Britain's most famous river for 184 miles – lies half a mile away, and countless walking and cycling routes fan out from nearby Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes' drive.

The campsite itself is low-key and dog-friendly, offering gravel electric pitches beneath the trees where you can soak up the peaceful countryside. What really draws campers here is the pub: diners rave about generous portions of freshly cooked classics like roast beef and steak-and-kidney pie, all served at fair prices in a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Tables fill quickly at mealtimes, so booking ahead is wise. If you prefer to self-cater, fire up the barbecue or pick up supplies in Kemble, a 20-minute stroll away.

Stayed at the little campsite alongside the pub…just overnight but was enough time to decide this place is fantastic. Lunch was tasty and wholesome. Staff were amazing. Our dog was fussed over by everyone. Thoroughly recommend.

Had a 6 night stay in the twin room, room was lovely and comfortable, well maintained with housekeeping going in everyday to make beds, re-stock tea etc. Only downside was no shower curtain as we’re unable to sit in or get out of a bath. Staff are all trained to a high level and couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating when eating at the Inn. Breakfast is so nice especially as you can choose what you’d like, it’s then all freshly cooked whilst you enjoy orange juice/tea or coffee. Lunchtime & evening meals are delicious, are generous portions (some nights we just had dessert just so that we got to try them) Overall a great stay for the 2nd year and look forward to revisiting in 2027

A group of 9 of us had Sunday lunch here. Staff were excellent, we didn’t have to wait too long and everyone agreed that roast and burgers were exceptional plenty of veggies amazing crispy chips. All served on really hot plates. A fantastic selection of puddings. Service was faultless. Many thanks to all the staff

We just had lunch today Friday 22nd with my wife and daughter. I must say it was absolutely delicious. My daughter and myself had Bob's Bubble and Squeak. Excellent with generous portion so I warn you, although I highly recommend it, only have it if you are hungry. 😂 My wife had Scamoy and Chips etc. Again, she said it was all delicious. We high recommend this lovely pub with excellent food. Thank you to the chef and Nichola the Manageress. 😊👌😋
