What diners say
Like likeee likeeee! Amazing! I am so regretting that I have not discovered till today Funky Cellar, despite being a regular visitor at Old Spitalfields! It is a cosy and amazing wine store and wine bar within Spitalfields. The atmosphere is amazing, you feel in a small and cozy wine bar with pictures, objects, mirrors and decorations bringing memories from 1900s! It is both a wine bar, more like French style plus deli so you can buy wine, cheese and snacks! Also downstairs can be reserved for events, and I should say I really loved the design downstairs! I randomly discovered Funky Cellar tonight. Entered inside, it was colorful, fun and vibrant decorations on the walls, objects from all over the world on each corner, tables are randomly painted but give a unique atmosphere. On the other side, there is a brasserie, with wine and cheese selections. The menu is short but more French style. I tried a smooth dry red and it was really good. As snack, I had olives (green and juicy ones) and baby potatoes. The menu besides includes cheese fondue, snacks like sourdough and butter, mains like camembert and bread etc so I would say it is more French & Swiss. The staff is so nice, they are helpful and good at recommending you stuff from the menu. I also had side chat with them, because they are so kind and lovely. In means of pricing, quite cheap and reasonable compared to the vibes, service and quality. Next, I will try fondue! Strongly rcommended for dates, single visits, groups and even for events! Centrally located! Just r

Visited this little place in Spittlefields market to experience wine and cheese tasting that had been purchased as a gift. Really lovely Staff with high-quality service despite the fact that it’s a very casual setting, block wine and as well as other drinks and food. Dog friendly.

Alex was a great server and made our visit that much more enjoyable. We love coming here for a selection of great French food and drink. Unfortunately the menu was changed recently and certain classics such as the best cheese Toastie in London as well as the bottomless raclette have been removed but hopefully it will be back!

Love the vibes of this place, great wine menu and atmosphere- the decor is super cool! We really enjoyed our three glasses of wine, however we felt the staff member we dealt with (who was very sweet) didn’t really know anything about the menu / wines when we asked questions - which is fine perhaps they were being trained but just something one might expect of a wine bar? The kimchi toasted sandwich was alright, nothing to write home about… but the olives were amazzzingg!
