What visitors say
This trail was absolutely stunning and one of the most beautiful coastal hikes I’ve done. Just an hour and a half drive from Edinburgh, the journey itself is a treat with rolling bucolic countryside and serene views the whole way. The path forms a loop, but I highly recommend walking up to the lighthouse and returning the same way. That out-and-back route follows the most dramatic and picturesque section of the cliffs. The coastal scenery is breathtaking with towering, rugged cliffs dropping straight into the sea, with countless seabirds nesting on the ledges. I was lucky enough to spot lots of Auks right below the path. You also pass a lovely pasture full of sheep and bouncing lambs, which adds such a peaceful, pastoral charm to the walk. It’s a must-do if you’re anywhere near Edinburgh. The trail isn’t overly long or difficult, and the views are rewarding the entire time. Even if you have mobility issues, there’s a fantastic viewpoint right at the start where you can park and with a an easy path enjoy the cliffs without needing to hike at all. Highly recommended. Bring your camera and binoculars. You won’t regret it!

Absolutely STUNNING views! Iv been in all kinds of weather! And it never fails to be breathtaking. I'd recommend sensible footwear though as the walk can be a little uneven and rocky! Absolutely worth the visit and the walk!

Heaven on earth! What an absolutely beautiful place. I am so glad this area is protected. We spent hours hiking and saw sheep, deer, many sea birds and rabbits. The cliffs were gorgeous and I cannot imagine a more beautiful place. I am so glad I came here!
