St Abbs - Lightkeepers Cottage

Scottish Borders

St Abbs clings to the Borders coast as a working fishing village, and Lightkeepers Cottage commands the clifftop above it. The approach winds upward along the protected cliff face; arrival at the top brings the first of many sea views that reach across the windows. This is a recently refurbished property where the living, dining and kitchen areas face seaward, while the two bedrooms and bathroom sit to the rear. Everything is on ground floor level, with just one step through a storm door at entry.

The cottage sleeps four: a king bed in the first bedroom, two singles in the second. The kitchen is equipped for cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer all present—and the bathroom includes a bath with shower over, plus a separate toilet. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. Two cars can park privately on the property. No smoking is permitted inside.

The village itself is small; shops, a pub and a restaurant are about three miles away. The cottage can be booked alongside neighbouring lighthouse cottages if a larger group is gathering. It suits families or couples wanting both comfort and something genuinely distinct—a cliff-edge setting in a place that still works as a village rather than a resort.
