Couples looking for a countryside escape without children will find The Orchard suited to a quiet break. This single-bedroom property occupies its own space within a converted bakery, set across 2½ acres of gardens and orchards shared with the site owner. You have sole use of the building, with direct access to a private patio and garden furniture; there's parking for one car on site and an enclosed garden to retreat into.
The bedroom contains a four-poster king bed. The ground-floor layout brings living areas, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, and a bathroom with both bath and shower into one flowing space, with French doors opening onto your garden. Essentials including electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are covered. The property is non-smoking. One dog is welcome.
The location sits between Colchester and Ipswich, close to the Essex-Suffolk border. Dedham Vale and Flatford Mill are roughly three miles away. Colchester itself has castle, shops and restaurants within easy reach, while beaches at Clacton are accessible for a day out. The surrounding grounds host wildlife including deer and rabbits, with beehives at the orchard's edge.

Dear All, I would like to thank you for your kindness and consideration yesterday during our delivery. You have a beautifull place and the members of staff were exceptional, kind, and professional. Also the Quadrupple Americano was unbelievable!!! A big HATS OFF and a big thank you. I will definitely visit you when back in the area as also when travelling in private and not due to work comitments. Best regards Konstantinos

This village is so beautiful it looks like a film set for a period drama. I came looking for a coffee and had a delicious breakfast. I'm not a fan of muffins so asked for eggs benedict with sour dough toast. The staff were lovely and the food arrived looking delicious. It did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly poached with deep golden yolks, amazing ham with the lightest most delicate hollandaise sauce which apparently is made to order. All topped off with some fresh pea shoots. What a find!

This is now my new favourite spot. One of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. It was like coming home/eating a breakfast cooked with love. You could taste the quality of the ingredients and the care taken to make it. The vibe is lovely - really warm lovely staff, chilled and down to earth ambience. I can see why it has such high ratings, absolutely well deserved.

A fantastic family run business. Best breakfast we've ever eaten 🩷 Not greasy or heavy. So delicious. The quality of the food and the way it is cooked is well worth the price - hats off to the chef!!!! AKA The owner Rosie's mum. Service was friendly, caring, and attentive. Nothing is too much to ask for. I Had a gorgeous oat iced latte with vanilla syrup, made by the wonderful Phillip too! 😄 This was our first time visiting and we couldn't fault it. We sat outside (on the only table that was outside) and it was so nice to watch the world go by, and to hear the atmosphere of the café. Dedham is a lovely place to visit. Rare to have a dining experience like this anymore. Highly recommend. We will be back!
