Coniston Park Coppice Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

Amazing place! This was our first visit here it's a lovely site spread out in amongst the coppice and all on different levels. Very friendly staff that give us a warm welcome. Thanks guys and keep up the good work!!

This was our first visit to a CAMC site having just joined as members. We've visited many campsites over the years and this was, sadly, a bit disappointing for us. Firstly the welcome was a bit 'frosty' with little information given and a 'as per usual you do this' approach that wasn't particularly helpful as we'd never been to their sites before, but we thought 'how complicated can it be?'. Turns out 'very' is the answer...the description of how to get to our pitch was massively over-complicated so we couldn't find it for ages (it was just a short distance inside one of the gates - why they couldn't have just said that I have no idea). The signage on site is appalling - either non-existent or extremely small. Next the facilities block near us was closed for cleaning (for two hours), asked where the next nearest one was, "it's straight over there"...15 mins later and after asking several other campers, I eventually found it nowhere near where directed! Then you need keys to get into the facilities (never had that before - don't forget them!). Apparently the accessible toilet should be left open during cleaning but ours were out of order..."you can use the toilets by reception"...which were also out of order but we were (somewhat reluctantly) let in when explaining that one of our party was disabled and the massive walk to the other blocks - there was nothing wrong with them, it just seemed like they were being reserved for reception staff or something. The site itself is mostly gravel pitches and almost all in the trees so it's a bit dark and gloomy. Once eventually settled it wasn't too bad but the site is absolutely massive and everything seems a long way off (facilities, water, bins, etc), particularly when a block is closed for cleaning which did make it feel like a chore to be there rather than a relaxing break which is what it should be. Probably great if you're self contained but just too spread out if you're not. Also there was a CAMC site car on regular patrols that made us feel like we were in a prison camp being watched all the time :-D Just seemed completely OTT. We've since been to a couple of other CAMC sites and happy to say they were much more welcoming, helpful and relaxed but I don't think we'll be rushing back to Coniston Park Coppice, just wasn't our sort of place I guess. This was part of a long multi-stop trip for us and we agreed that this was our least favourite site - whilst also being the most expensive.

Beautiful woodland campsite and great for wildlife lovers, we saw so many birds. Toilets were absolutely spotless as always. I have been here multiple times and I wouldn’t hesitate to come again. Great access to the lake and the town of Coniston. Super close to the Coniston fells as well for those larger walks.

One of our favourite sites. A pleasant walk up the lake to the village, or down the lake to the pub at Torver. Also a good starting point to climb the Old Man of Coniston. Excellent facilities and helpful wardens, as usual for C&MC. It’s a big site but split into discrete sections. Some of the pitches are lovely although in a few parts you get those big expanses of gravel which are not so scenic.
