Tucked into a private tree-shaded meadow within the Cornwall National Landscape, this adults-only hideaway offers off-grid glamping glamour without compromise – solar panels and a borehole supply the shepherd's hut's hot power shower, flushing toilet and wifi seamlessly.
Inside you'll find a king-size four-poster with Egyptian cotton bedding, complimentary toiletries in the ensuite, and a kitchenette with fridge, gas hob and cooking essentials. A woodburning stove keeps things cosy, while outside the woodfired hot tub is perfect for stargazing or listening for tawny owls. Cook whatever the weather in the quirky Hobbit-style barbecue lodge, then laze in the hammock beside the gently burbling creek.
Your nearest neighbours are friendly (fenced-off) chickens, and deer occasionally wander through the meadow. Dogs are welcome year-round, with a dedicated dog park on site. It's a peaceful, wildlife-rich spot for romantic getaways – though you're still close to canoeing, cycling and Cornwall's stunning coast.

We had a wonderful experience here from start to finish. Paul was extremely kind and his love and passion for the place was clear and he was always on hand with prompt response. He made our stay very easy with the instructions and complimentary coal, wood & little bits and bobs. The place was clean, neat and fully equipped. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Star gazing was amazing as its located away from light pollution and the hot tub was heated and ready for us on arrival. We look forward to coming back! ❤️

We had a wonderful time staying here for our first anniversary, and we will definitely return! We spent evenings cooking in the hobbit hut, and lazing in the hot tub under starry skies. Everything was spotlessly clean. We had a lovely welcome from Paul on arrival, and he showed us where everything was and how everything worked. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

We are so grateful for our stay at Gillian Creek Retreat—it was the perfect hideaway to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The hobbit hut is such a thoughtful and unique addition, offering shelter from the elements and a cozy separate space that makes the retreat feel extra special. Over two nights, we enjoyed cooking delicious meals over the fire and playing games, which gave us the chance to truly disconnect from the everyday and spend quality time together. The shepherds hut itself is beautifully designed, with a wonderfully comfortable bed that gave us the best sleep, and a warm, powerful shower that felt like a real treat each morning. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and deeply appreciative of the care and attention that has gone into creating such a welcoming and memorable retreat. Thank you for making our celebration so special—we can’t wait to return!

A fabulous get-away, far from the madding crowd. The shepherds hut, hot tub and hobbits house were lovely. We will return. Paul, the host will look after your needs and is very attentive.
