About South View Certificated Location

Tucked away near Callington, this peaceful Caravan and Motorhome Club certificated location offers members a splendidly maintained touring field where high hedges cocoon just a handful of hardstanding and grass pitches. It's an ideal base for exploring both East Cornwall and Dartmoor National Park, with the forested Danescombe Valley trails less than a kilometre from your door and the Tamar Valley National Landscape a ten-minute drive away. Dogs will love scrambling up Kit Hill, where clear days reveal Dartmoor vistas, and walkers can tackle sections of the 87-kilometre Tamar Trail.

The nearest beaches – Tregantle, Freathy and Downderry – lie about 40 minutes away, though Dandy Hole, a smaller riverside spot popular with kayakers and sailors, is five minutes closer. After a day out, stock up in Callington and fire up the barbecue under star-filled skies. With showers, chemical disposal and motorhome service points all on site, plus rally-friendly facilities and water hook-ups, South View caters well to tourers seeking a quiet Cornish escape.

What visitors say

Scifi Shipyards

It's ok. Quite tough to get to, especially if towing a caravan or in a motor home, as the roads are very bendy and narrow. Once you get there, first impression is that it's a bit scruffy. Lots of derelict vehicles and old caravans. Only one toilet, which is clean enough. The only shower was being renovated when we got there, which we weren't informed about, which was a bit annoying. The owner seems friendly and helpful enough. It's cheap to stay here though, so really, you get what you pay for.

Great cl campsite! Perfect for trips to Cothele, Calstock, Gunnislake to catch train to Plymouth. Toilet and now brand new shower (metered with 20p/£1) Water, recycling and a large camping field with some EHU points. Absolute gem! Helpful enthusiastic owners always on hand for advice on walks and local pub knowledge. The Rifle Volunteer is a splendid establishment for food, the Carpenters Arms also. Daves fish and chips in Gunnislake is a good Friday night treat for us on the way here.
