Coastguards

Cornwall

Photo: Google Maps

This restored coastguard station sits on the Roseland Peninsula with unobstructed views across Gerrans Bay. The building retains its character while offering proper modern comfort across three floors: a ground-floor kitchen and open-plan living space with a woodburner and bay window; a first-floor bedroom with kingsize bed and another with a double; and a top-floor bedroom with two singles and two sofa beds, plus its own shower room. Three full bathrooms mean mornings run smoothly. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, full-size fridge—and there's laundry facilities too.

The front garden has a barbecue and seating, while the South West Coast Path is accessible straight from the back. Portscatho village itself is within walking distance, as are two beaches. Parking for two cars sits at the rear. The property has a garage suitable for storing kayaks or boards. Note that steep steps lead to the entrance from both front and back. No smoking inside. This layout suits families or groups of eight comfortably, with the flexibility of sofa beds for younger children on the top floor.
