Truro sits at the head of a tidal estuary where the Cornish coastline opens into some of the region's best beaches. Driftwood is a private three-bedroom, two-bathroom property just minutes from Porthbean and the broader sweep of accessible sand and coves that draw visitors to North Cornwall. The whole place is yours—six guests, no shared facilities, no other parties.
The layout keeps things straightforward. Ground-floor living and dining space has a smart TV and DVD player; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with an electric oven, dishwasher and full-sized fridge. One bedroom has an ensuite shower, while the other two share a family bathroom with a bath and shower attachment. Bed linen, Wi-Fi and heating are provided. The enclosed garden opens onto a patio and decked area, with access to a shared tennis court if you want to bring rackets. Parking is on site.
From here you're within easy reach of Padstow's harbour and restaurants, the Camel cycle trail toward Wadebridge, and various National Trust properties inland. Watergate Bay's water sports centre is a short drive, as is the Eden Project. A small shop serves the holiday village and St Merryn, about a mile away. No smoking in the property.

Most of these reviews seem to relate to the now closed restaurant. Situated in a beautiful location and that is seemingly what justifies the price tag. Rooms had a fan, which was much appreciated, and a fridge and ours had a bath (but no working shower head). For the price tag, 15ml of shower gel (for 2 people) with a shower that doesn't work really doesn't cut it. Not a place to stay in the middle of your travels. You get to play breakfast roulette, with no way of pre-determining which so if it is important to you to know, it might be worth a preemptive email. Decent coffee machine, with a syrup a nice extra. The beach is lovely but not truly private. Bedding and mess on the landing the entire time. Saw people at the check out for the first time; I'm sure they would have fixed the shower head if we had been there for more than one night.

We kicked off our tour of Cornwall at the Driftwood and would happily have stayed longer. The private beach and rooms with a view make any walk well worth it. Breakfast was amazing and we switched each day and was always happy and full. We did switch rooms for a better shower and the owner could not have been more helpful.

This was our first visit to Cornwall. We came to celebrate my son’s birthday. We’re from NYC but staying in Cardiff for the summer. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The grounds, our room and the view were absolutely lovely. We didn’t have a car so that was difficult. But other than taking a taxi to The Eden Project we spent our four days, three nights at the hotel and we were happy to do so. The little hike back and forth to the private beach is charming. The little lookouts on the property are so serene. The afternoon tea perfect and special. The staff is incredibly accommodating. Leah at the front desk is very sweet and the owner Fiona genuinely kind and helpful in planning your day. Two standouts in the restaurant were Camilla and Dan. All the staff in the restaurant was on point, if a little reserved and cool. But Camilla and Dan were so effortlessly warm to my son and I—especially as it was his birthday. I really appreciated the kindness. We’ll have memories from this place for years to come. We hope to come back.
