High Sroot

Millbrook's quieter stretch of Cornwall puts you within a mile of the South West Coast Path, and a short drive takes you to Kingsand, Cawsand and the sweep of Whitsand Bay. A passenger ferry runs to Plymouth if you fancy a day out. The open-plan kitchen and dining area opens onto a sunken sitting room with a log burner, sofas and board games; upstairs, bedrooms have views across the lake.

Outside matters as much as in. The garden runs south-facing all day, with a hot tub, a tiki bar for summer gatherings, and room to sit and eat. Parking fits three cars on the driveway. Inside, you get wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels; the kitchen is properly equipped for cooking, and a washing machine handles practicalities. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
