Kippy Cottage

Photo: Kippy Cottage

The St. Agnes Heritage Coast draws people for its beaches and walking routes in equal measure. Kippy Cottage sits within reach of both, a short walk from Porthtowan Beach and its car park. It's a two-bedroom property sleeping four, with a back garden and direct access to the kind of coastal setting that works year-round—whether for surfing, family time, or simply being somewhere quieter than the main resorts.

Downstairs is an open-plan living and dining space with a woodburner, opening onto the rear garden where there's a picnic bench. The kitchen has an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine, so you can cook properly or keep things simple. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a double bed, one with two singles. There's a shower room with a heated towel rail. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. The cottage is non-smoking, though a one-dog welcome is in place.

Families with young children will find travel cots, highchairs and stairgates available. A pub lies within a mile. Check-in is after 15:00, check-out before 10:00.

We just stayed for 4 nights and it was so nice. The location for us was brilliant as I was running in a race that had the registration area at the nearby Mount Pleasant Eco Park and the race finish was there too, so for us it was perfect. We had a few days sightseeing and the location to travel to Newquay, St Ives, the Minack Theatre and Lands End was just brilliant. The Unicorn pub accross the road was good, and in terms of the accomodation we loved it....the log burner was so cosy this time of year, we had some lovely mornings and evenings just sat with the log burner on. The beds were really comfy and we loved the feel of the place, homely and just nice to relax in with everything you need, parking was great and getting entry into the cottage was simple and easy which was nice. Polly was amazing, our travel plans changed because of a cancelled flight and she couldn't have been more helpful, from the minute we booked to when we left I knew if we needed help she would be available. We are already thinking of returning and would highly recommend. Thank you Polly for letting us stay in your lovely cottage, we had a great little trip. Mark, Gill and Mollie from Jersey

Had the most gorgeous stay in this beautiful beachside cottage. Stunning views of the beach from the bedroom & living room. Lovingly curated with real heart & soul. Felt like a home away from home. Every little detail has been thought about, from the Hypnos mattresses to the fully equipped kitchen. Just loved it & can’t wait to return. Thank you Kippy!

We have just spent an amazing week in Cornwall, staying at the lovely Kippy Cottage right on the front and literally in the heart on Porthtowan. Upon arrival, we could not believe how idyllic the location was, all the amenities on your doorstep but most importantly for us, the beach and ocean so close and so accessible. We spent many hours relaxing on the beach and also playing in the sea, learning to surf, walking the dogs on the beach and also on the southwest coastal path (which is right on your doorstep). Afternoons and evenings were frequently spent soaking up the rays in the garden and watching the sun set over the ocean in the evenings. Aside from its idyllic location, we also found Kippy Cottage itself simply perfect. I adored the interior decor, the colourful well thought out palette and fun rustic beach vibes. It was clean, tidy, modern, & very well stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay. I loved the amazing view of the sea from the patio doors and upstairs bedroom, it brought a smile to my day from the moment I woke up. The Guest Information pack provided is so incredibly informative, not only with everything you would need to know about the accommodation itself but also the owners have gone above and beyond to provide lots and lots of useful information with regards to other activities and amenities in the area. We only scratched the surface (hence need to go back!) but below are a few of the things that filled our days and we thoroughly enjoyed (all can be found in the information Pack).. Sundowners in the Blue Bar Porthtowan Relaxing in Kippy Cottage Garden - great Ocean View and perfect for soaking up the sun Beach Yoga with Kitty Surfing lessons via Eskinzo Surf School Southwest Coastal path - We walked to Chapel Porth with dogs- amazing views We saw Seals in Godrevy (national trust) Hayle Beach for Dog walking + Cove cafe overlooking Hayle Beach (dog friendly apart from July August) Gwithian Beach also dog friendly (apart from July August) Coast To Coast Bike Ride from Portreath - Devoran (starting at Elm Farm) 2 minute drive from Kippy Cottage We have stayed in a number of dog friendly places in Cornwall over the years, but I can honestly say that Kippy Cottage was up there with the best, we have made some amazing memories and we will definitely be returning for more. Having spoken to the owners before going, I know they consider it a special place for them and their family...and now having been myself, I can 100% see why as we also had a pretty perfect stay in their lovely beach retreat and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Thank you:)

We’ve been holidaying to Cornwall for quite a few years with our two boys and dog(s), and in Kippy Cottage we have finally found the perfect home-from-home getaway. The very thoughtful owners have included everything we could possibly need to make our stay as perfect as possible. There’s no shortage of, plates, cutlery, cooking utensils, dog bowls to make life easy for you. Lots of information in the welcome pack too to help you settle in and get going on enjoying the Cornish coast! Although the weather wasn’t the best for us (April 2024), the log burner was just the best way to keep warm and cosy in the evenings. This place really is something special. The (dog-friendly) beach is literally 100 metres from Kippy Cottage, and you can either sit and watch the waves roll in at high tide, or walk along the sand to Chapel Port beach (try the Hedgehog ice cream there) when the tide is out. With a café on the Porthtowan beach front serving wonderful coffees/teas/ice cream, and super helpful surf/wetsuit hire shops, lovely food at the Unicorn pub, a local village shop that has everything you need, this place means you can just turn up and enjoy your break. We also booked a supermarket shop delivery for when we arrived, which is worth doing. There’s so much to explore and do nearby that the bad weather didn’t really matter to us. Lots of coastal path walks and amazing views, seal spotting along the coast, take a dip in the Mermaid tidal pool at Porthtowan, St Agnes just up the road with a lovely bakery. If you’re looking for a place in Cornwall to re-charge, relax and get away, Kippy Cottage is THE place to go.
