Porth beach lies within sight of this converted barn, and Watergate Bay—with its restaurants and bars—is a short drive away. Newquay's other beaches, all staffed by RNLI lifeguards during summer, spread along the coast nearby. The countryside around here rolls gently toward the sea, making it good walking country as well as a base for the usual Cornish seaside things.

Penrose Lodge itself is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom place sleeping four. The ground floor holds one bedroom with twin single beds and an ensuite; upstairs, a king bedroom and shower room open onto the main living space. That living space is open-plan, with a partly glazed roof and full-length balcony that frames the view down to Porth. The kitchen has electric cooking and a full set of appliances; bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are all covered. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer in an external utility room, and a barbecue on the balcony. You get private parking for three cars and unlimited use of a tennis court on the grounds. The garden is shared with the owners. The property is non-smoking.
