Prideaux Farm Cottages - The Wagon House

Photo: Steve Sulley

The Wagon House sits on the Prideaux Estate, set high in the Luxulyan Valley with views across wooded slopes. Par itself sits between the south coast fishing villages and the northern harbour towns; the valley is known for some of Cornwall's most rewarding walks—deep wooded paths, streams, and the Victorian iron viaduct that once carried the china clay trade. The Saints Way, a 27-mile historic footpath, begins just a short walk away and threads from Fowey to Padstow through ancient ruins and sites of Cornish significance. The coast, with its cliff paths and Atlantic perspectives, is within reach for a day out.

The cottage is a single-storey converted space with everything on one level. A living room with wood burner and smart TV opens onto a patio and garden; the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, hob, dishwasher, and washer-dryer. One bedroom holds a king bed with a TV; the ensuite has both bath and shower. An enclosed lawn with garden furniture and a bike store complete the setup. Electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen, towels and logs for the burner are all provided. The property is for two guests only and does not permit smoking.

Stayed in the wagon house cottage. Very nicely done. Enough amenities for a weeks holiday. Underfloor heating is luxurious. Location is quiet but close enough to nice places to go and some good meals to be had not too far away. Well priced. Bathroom is nice with a good rainfall shower. Good internet at 40mbps ish. Nice fire to be lit if you want. DVDs are abysmal but if you are booking your holiday cottage based on the dvd selection you are doing it wrong. It could do with some ice cube trays and the bed is hard so take that into consideration but other than that top marks.
