Springtide

Saint Austell sits between the dramatic north coast and quieter harbours of south Cornwall, and Springtide places you right at the edge of where locals come to walk. The cottage stands above the beach at Holywell Bay, backing directly onto sand dunes with direct access to the shoreline. Three bedrooms sleep six, with a double and two singles downstairs and a second twin upstairs; there is one bathroom. A bright living and dining area opens onto decking and a patio, and the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided.

The location suits families wanting immediate beach time, couples seeking coastal quiet, and groups of friends looking for a base near both water sports and countryside. Charlestown Harbour lies nearby with its working fishing boats and period architecture. Parking for two cars is on site. The cottage does not permit smoking. One dog is welcome. Note the upstairs bedroom access is via a steep spiral staircase.

This seafood restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The portions were very generous, the oysters were incredibly fresh, and the food was delicious. I would definitely come back if I were here again. The environment was also very comfortable.Parking was just a 1-2 minute walk away

A lovely dinner here tonight. The staff were friendly and attentive without being obsequious; the service was prompt; the ambiance excellent and the food tasty. The scallops were on the small size but well cooked. The meat in the burger was excellent. Highly recommend the lemon sorbet sundae as a palate cleanser and a light pudding at the end too! Thanks for a great evening!

Had dinner at Springtide April 26. Nice atmosphere with good music. Wasn’t too loud. We were looked after by David who is really chatty and humorous. He took his time to learn our names and checked in with us often. We had gambas pil pil to start, followed by a blackened fish burger as well as a special which was lemon sole with a white bean stew which was delicious. Lastly we ordered another special for dessert which was a stewed rhubarb sundae with ginger and meringue snaps. I’d highly recommend this restaurant. Charlestown is a beautiful setting and Springtide is a friendly not too expensive restaurant.

We ate here in feburary while on a small cornish getaway with the dog. We were staying at pinetum gardens and a member of staff recommended it to us. There was only us and one other couple in the restaurant, but it was nice and quiet, cosy with the log burner on and they were dog friendly, so being quiet it meant the dog was chilled out and went for a snooze. We had an amazing meal, we both loved every bit of it and worth the money. 100% we would return here if we stayed in cornwall again. Definately recommend visiting here if you are in the area
