Tucked into a hillside smallholding overlooking the Dee Valley near Corwen, this dog-friendly lodge setup delivers woodland views, dramatic sunsets and genuinely dark skies – all just five minutes off the A5. The well-equipped kitchenette handles simple meals, bed linen and towels are included, and a private shower room sits just across the gravel driveway. It's no-frills in the best sense: comfortable, straightforward and properly peaceful.

The owners live on-site with their two kids, dogs, a goat, geese, ducks and a flock of rescue hens that supply fresh eggs daily. Meet the menagerie if you fancy it, or simply settle onto the shared decking with a glass of wine as resident owls start their nightly chorus. Cywnwyd village is a short stroll for basics and pub meals, while the surrounding area offers canoeing, cycling and walking in spades. A rural hideaway that hits the spot for couples and small families after genuine Welsh valley seclusion.
