About Ibis Coventry South

Ibis Coventry South suits travellers who want a straightforward, practical base rather than a destination in itself - business visitors passing through, drivers covering distance, or anyone needing an early start with easy access to Coventry's main roads. Set on Whitley Business Park, it's built for convenience over character, with ample parking and a quiet, secure setting that makes it easy to rest before moving on.

Rooms are en-suite with straightforward comforts, and guests consistently mention the beds as a strong point. Accessible rooms are available, and reception is staffed around the clock. That said, maintenance is inconsistent in places, and some rooms have been affected by a damp smell, so it's worth flagging any issues on arrival. The on-site bar covers a drink or light bite without needing to head out, and staff are generally noted as friendly and helpful.

Pets are welcome, which helps if you're travelling with a dog. For food beyond the hotel, there are pubs, bars, and restaurants nearby, along with entertainment options for an evening out. It works best as a functional overnight stop close to Coventry's transport links rather than a base for lingering.

Compared with reviews from a couple of years ago the Hotel appears to have improved greatly. Rooms clean and bathroom obviously renovated quite recently. Excellent service from very friendly, efficient staff. Evening meal of Fish and chips freshly cooked for us early in evening as we were were off to a conference. Very acceptable full buffet style breakfast available in the morning. As SatNav postcode doesn't take you to the hotel we had problems finding it on arrival so signage at the roundabout near David Lloyd sign would be extremely helpful.

This might not be the most luxurious or visually impressive hotel at first glance, but for the price, it deserves a five-star rating. The rooms are located in a separate block directly opposite the reception building, giving the place a US motel-style look. The buildings themselves are made from precast concrete and have a distinctly 60s/70s feel. While this might appear dated, it has one big advantage: the rooms are very well insulated from noise. Unlike many newer hotels with their creaky wooden floors, it’s surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The entire site appears to have been refurbished recently. The car park has been freshly resurfaced, and the property now has security fencing around the perimeter along with a motorised entrance gate. These improvements make the hotel feel much more safe and secure. Inside, the rooms are spotlessly clean and maintained to a solid standard. They’re simple but comfortable, and clearly cared for by the cleaners. The only small thing I noticed is that a few of the ground floor rooms have a damp smell. They’re not dirty or mouldy, but if you have the option, a first-floor room is preferable. Another big plus is that the hotel has its own bar and restaurant, and unlike many places, food is available 24 hours a day! What really stands out, though, is the staff. Everyone I’ve spoken to is warm, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel is also set in a secluded location surrounded by attractive woodland, which gives it a very calm and relaxing feel. It’s quiet, peaceful, and a nice place to unwind after a long day. Overall, while it may not be flashy, it offers excellent value, comfort, and service - it's more than enough to justify a five-star rating for what you pay.

The hotel itself feels very intimidating, surrounded by fencing and controlled by an electric gate, which creates a hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere particularly concerning for families or anyone arriving late. There was no soundproofing between rooms, so noise from neighbouring guests was constant. The hotel also allowed guests to leave their dogs in their cars, resulting in relentless barking throughout the night. The carpet in the room was filthy. The bathroom floor was so dirty I had to clean it myself before using it. Hair in the bedding. I raised all of these issues directly with Ibis, but they have not taken any accountability and have refused to offer any form of compensation. I cannot recommend this hotel but if you do stay take ear plugs and slippers!

Not really impressed. Rooms look really tired, with some white spots on the carpet. Really squeaky doors, which woke us up when the staff went into next door. Really dodgy lighting over the bed - hanging risk. Very disappointed and really not the standard I'd expect from ibis. Would opt for a different hotel next time we visit the city.
