Bakers Bungalow

Rolling countryside surrounds this single-storey bungalow, which sits on a working farm near Longtown in Cumberland. The location offers genuine quietness while remaining practical for travel: the M6 and M74 are about 5 miles away, the A7 roughly a mile off, making it useful as a stopover or as a base for exploring northern Cumbria, the Lake District and the Scottish Borders without the usual tourist noise.

Inside, large windows bring daylight into the lounge and frame the landscape beyond. The open-plan kitchen and dining space works for both quick meals and longer cooking projects, with a separate utility room that proves useful over a week or more. Three bedrooms sleep five: a master double with en-suite (bath and separate shower), a twin, and a single, served by another shower room. Wifi and the essentials—electricity, bed linen and towels—are included. A Smart TV and comfortable seating mean evenings are easy to spend indoors if the weather turns.

The enclosed garden has seating and a charcoal barbecue for outdoor eating. One dog stays free and is welcome here. The bungalow is a mile from a pub, and smoking is not permitted inside.
