This stone terraced cottage dates from an era when the Lake District's valleys were busy with working life. It stands on the banks of the River Greta with direct access to the water, a rare feature that shapes the whole experience of staying here. The building is compact but thoughtfully arranged across three floors, with two bedrooms and one bathroom sleeping up to four people.
Ground floor holds the living and dining space, a kitchen with oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher, and a utility room housing a washer-dryer. Upstairs, bedroom one contains a double bed; the top floor has two single beds. A wood-burning stove provides cosiness in the living room. Bed linen, towels, wifi and heating are all covered. Outside, a terraced area with seating looks over the river, and there is parking for one car on site. The Twa Dogs pub stands across the road, serving real ale and food. The cottage doesn't allow smoking.
A low wall runs along the garden, though care is needed near the water. Internal stairs are narrow and steep in places. The setting suits couples, small families and walkers; Skiddaw and Blencathra are within a short drive.
