Would you like to wake up to a view that will (most likely) have you ooh-ing and aah-ing? Green Eskin Camping sits on a working farm surrounded by mountains and overlooking Derwentwater, the Lake District's third largest lake. Highland cows with grand horns roam the surrounding fields, and the flat, well-drained camping field is just over half a mile from Keswick town centre. Theatre By The Lake is a 20-minute walk away, with the Keswick ferry terminal five minutes further, sorting your transport across the water.
Hikers can set off straight onto popular mountain walks after grabbing coffee at the on-site café. Watersports centres and a canoeing and bushcraft activity hub are within easy reach, too. The trade-off for those spectacular views and proximity to town? Amenities are decidedly simple – portable toilets only, no showers, and you'll need to bring your own drinking water. For many, though, that's a fair swap for such a prime Lake District location.
