Bruno's Bothy is a converted farm building with period character restored to modern standards. Exposed beams run through the single open-plan level, where a woodburner anchors the living space, a sun room overlooks the garden, and the kitchen handles everything from simple meals to proper cooking. One bedroom contains a zip-and-link bed, convertible to two singles; the shower room is compact but complete. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi—are sorted, with logs for the stove included.
The property occupies its own corner of a working farm near Wigton in Cumberland, a working landscape rather than a manicured setting. You have sole use of the building, the enclosed garden with its patio, and a private hot tub that fits four. One dog is welcome at no extra cost, though the farm setting means it must stay on a lead. There is parking for two cars on site. The Aikton Arms stands just 100 yards away if you want a meal without cooking; Carlisle, the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall are all within reasonable driving distance.

Beautiful well equipped cottage in a peaceful location. Loved days out and relaxing in the back garden watching the wildlife

Second time staying at Bruno's Bothy and it was every bit as good as the first, weather was a bonus and the hot tub was well used throughout our stay. Wilson, our dog, absolutely loves the freedom of the garden here! The bird life that visits the feeder is outstanding, Woody Woodpecker visited a number of times along with many other species, even saw a sparrowhawk patrolling nearby. Would highly recommend here and hopefully will return again God willing.

Superb spotless cottage with hottub under the stars - perfectly laid out, extremely spacious and comfortable. Underfloor heating is gorgeous in the winter months and makes it so cosy! Our dog enjoyed lying in front of the log burner and I loved watching the birds each morning with my morning cuppa. Some beautiful sunrises and sunsets too. Will definitely be back!

A real gem! We stayed here for a week over Easter. It was sooooo relaxing, can't wait to return. Lovely views, we really enjoyed watching the lambs and hens running around. The hot tub was used frequently. The cottage itself had been done to a very high standard, pictures online certainly do it no justice. The underfloor heating was a real bonus too - very cosy on bad weather days. Although it's just outside of the Lake District we travelled around easily - only 45 mins to Keswick- and for those that don't want to travel Wigton is only a few mins away and there's a lovely country pub serving good food at the end of the drive! The owners were really friendly- we really appreciated the fresh hens eggs! Absolutely can't wait to return xxx
