Everything needed for a complete Lake District break comes as standard at Catbells. The apartment has a double bedroom, bathroom with shower over the bath, and a combined kitchen and dining space where you can prepare proper meals—there's an electric oven, hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine. The living room has a TV and DVD player. Electricity, bed linen and Wi-Fi are included, and there's private parking for one car directly opposite the entrance.
Located on the first floor of a small apartment building just off Keswick's main road, Catbells puts you within easy reach of everything the town offers. Shops, pubs and restaurants are yards away. The real draw, though, is proximity to the outdoors: Derwentwater is a 10-minute walk downhill through Hope Park's gardens, where you can pick up launch boats around the lake, and the fell paths begin almost at your door. Note there are steps at the front of the property and drops nearby, so care is needed with young children. A travel cot is available if needed.

Great hike whilst visiting Keswick. Not too taxing - just a couple of short scrambles. Young children and grandparents encountered along the way.

Famous Lake District fell that makes for a fantastic hike from Brandelhow Park, rewarding those who reach the summit with panoramic views over Derwent Water, Bassenthwaite and the surrounding mountains. Much of the ascent is relatively easy, following a well surfaced path, though towards the summit it becomes considerably more challenging, steep and rocky with narrow ledges. The summit is all exposed rock, with a toposcope mounted on a slate pillar. The descent heading south leads towards Manesty, where you can turn back and follow the lakeside path back to the starting point. There's roadside parking near the northern end of the trail but no other facilities. Robust footwear is advisable. This is a very popular spot thanks to its relative accessibility, so arrive early or late in the day if you prefer to avoid the crowds.

Super fun climb, not as basic as many hill walking and climbing guides/books suggest, 80% is a nice walk and then as you reach the last 20% it turns to steep rocky climbing (no ropes, just care needed). Incredible views and well worth it… We did it as a family, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 10 & 8, and an old dog. We all managed it and enjoyed it👌🏻

Hiked Catbells to catch the sunrise despite of gust forecast of about 50-60mph on top. Because it said no rain, the stubborness in me pushed through. Started from my accommodation in Portinscale. I went off course at the start but was able to recover immediately. I think I was the only person climbing at around 6am. Wind was strong so I was quite unsure if I can do the short scramble but I'm happy I was able to...safely to say the least. Didn't catch the sun rise, as expected, but it showed up during my descent. Still a happy kid! 😄 Needless to say, I want more of Lake District. 🇬🇧
