Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club Site

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We did not interact with many of the staff so cannot comment on the many other reviews about their attitude. PRO’S: - Easy access to the lake with stunning panoramic views - Well maintained site which is very clean and organised - The rules are strict but we like that they do not allow noise or people to pitch too close to your tent - Toilet blocks have hot water with a steady temperature with plenty of stalls available - From the entrance, it is a 5-10min walk top Keswick town centre, spoilt for choice for places to eat + drink - Large supermarket called Booths at the top of the entrance to the campsite which is very reasonably priced. Would recommend doing the food shop there instead of bringing loads from home! - Good ground with no big rocks, nice and flat with well-maintained grass CONS’S: - MASSIVE NEGATIVE – You cannot leave the site in your car until 7am – the site has barriers which do not open until 7am. We always do sunrise hikes and could not drive to the mountain we wanted to climb. I understand this is to preserve peace on the site but some of us like to start our day before the sun rises - No amenity block on the camping field due to it being a flood area. The toilet blocks are a 5-10min walk away which is not ideal when you wake up busting for the loo! We always take travel urinals so would definetly recommend taking something similar, especially if you have children who may not be able to hold themselves - Very strict on check in times being 1pm. We arrived at 12:45pm, there is a barrier which is NOT lifted until 1:00pm exactly and you are then guided, 1 by 1, to your pitch. - Lake side pitches NOT available for tents big enough to stand in. We requested lakeside but were denied. You can only pitch your tent lakeside if it is a very small 1x person sleeper tent - The shop stocks nothing of real requirement. Ideally needs to stock ice, ear plugs etc

Great location for the town. Handy supermarket next to the entrance of the site, sells a great 'quality' selection of most things. (Not hand towels 🤣 🫣) Great views and access to the lake. Staff helpfull and kind. However, the toilwts are a 'fair' bit away. There are plenty, however if you are campt in the additional grass are, you do have a trek to the toilets, you may have 0.35 of a mile to walk. Not good at night OR if you have young children. We took our own portaloo! 👍

Visited with sailing dinghy, prior to booking I contacted both the site and club neither was helpful or informative. After extensive online research to confirm that club boat section used the site and some YouTube reviews showing dinghies on site decided to go for it, but the delay getting info meant I couldn't get all the days I wanted. Launching is from the beach area, shallow with sand bank to the right going a long way out, head towards mooring bouys on left for deeper water. Nice lake to sail, variable wind some islands and some of the shore (see online derwentwater access) you can land on but beware of submerged rocks, outboards allowed. Oh and there's a daily/week Launching fee. No safety cover on water. Site wise large busy C&C club standard, staff polite. Short walk into town for shops and restaurants. Lots of strenuous walking.

First time in Keswick CCC and with some really nice weather made it all welcoming.., just a short walk from the Main Street of Keswick made it really comfortable with a large food store “Booth’s” and several coffee shops and restaurants in the pedestrian area on the way to the Lake side. Fantastic views of the lake from the site itself but much better from the lake side park - Crow Park - just a short walk away..,
