This detached barn conversion sits on elevated ground directly alongside the Hadrian's Wall Path, built from stone and retaining the character of its agricultural past. The setting is rural and quiet, with meadow views and immediate access to one of England's most significant walking routes. Carlisle is within an hour's drive, as are Newcastle and numerous market towns; locally there are shops half a mile away and a pub at two miles.

The layout spreads across two floors. Downstairs holds a living and dining room with a woodburner, Freeview TV and DVD player, plus a sofa bed for flexible sleeping. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering with an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. A shower room completes the ground floor. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a zip-and-link double bed (which can be configured as two singles), the other with two single beds. The property sleeps 4 and is yours alone for the stay.

Electricity, bed linen, towels and initial logs for the woodburner are included. An outhouse holds a tumble dryer. The lawned garden has a patio, furniture and barbecue. There is parking for two cars on site and a bike store. The property does not allow smoking. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Note that the stairs are narrow and steep.

Fantastic location, superb for star gazing, peaceful, quiet and on the Hadrians Wall path. Great for our dog. Great walking from the house. Comfortable house, super selection of dvd's. Good kitchen equipment. Friendly owners next door if needed.

We have just spent the weekend here and absolutely loved it. The cottage is well equipped and super cosy. We loved the unusual layout of the double staircase with a bedroom at each side. Our kids loved it too, it was a great place for hide and seek! And our dog was completely at home. Fabulous if you are walking Hadrian's Wall as it is situated right on the wall at Lanercost!

Stopped here for a week, great barn conversion, suitable for all the family (as long as you can climb stairs to the bedrooms). Friendly owners who welcomed us when we arrived with a bottle of wine and some milk. 30 seconds walk to Hadrian's wall walking path and 10 mins drive to the local town for supplues

Very well kept barn conversion, plenty of room very clean and everything you need for a pleasant break I was actually quite surprised at how relaxing it was! Unfortunately had to leave early as our daughter was very ill back home but I'll definitely be making a return!
