The northern edge of the Lake District National Park holds scattered villages where the fells rise quietly around you. Howbeck Cottage sits on the fringe of one such settlement, a Grade II listed property that was renovated in 2022. It sleeps four across two bedrooms—one with a king bed, one with two singles—and has one bathroom. The whole place is yours alone, and one dog is welcome.
Ground-floor living makes up the main space: a combined living and dining room with a wood-burning stove and Smart TV, and a galley kitchen fitted with an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine. Everything needed for self-catering is here. Upstairs, bedrooms are simply furnished. Outside, an enclosed front garden with seating catches the sun; the patio has garden furniture. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included in your stay. There is private parking for one car on site, with additional roadside spaces nearby. No smoking indoors.
The village has a micro-brewery, a community shop and a post office. Caldbeck, close by, offers a farm dairy and village amenities. This is territory for fell walking, lake exploration and quiet time rather than attractions or activity centres.
