Crofthead is a traditional detached cottage in a quiet corner of the Lake District, surrounded by open pasture with the Caldbeck Fells as a backdrop. The property sleeps five across three bedrooms: a single on the ground floor, a king on the first floor, and a zip-and-link double that converts to two singles. There is one bathroom with bath and shower, plus a separate toilet on the ground floor. A covered well stands within the grounds, a period detail that adds to the cottage's character.

The ground floor combines living and dining space with a woodburner, TV and music system, flowing through to a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer. Initial logs for the burner are provided. Underfloor heating runs throughout the ground floor, with central heating upstairs; electricity, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included. Two cars can park on site, and one medium-sized dog is welcome.

A lawned garden with patio and furniture overlooks the surrounding countryside. The nearby villages of Hesket New Market and Caldbeck both have traditional pubs, shops and cafes. This is solid walking country, and the quiet lanes suit cycling too. No smoking indoors.
