Within three miles you'll find a shop, pub and restaurant; Caldbeck village (four miles) has a wider choice of amenities. Carlisle itself is ten miles south, while Keswick and Bassenthwaite Lake lie nineteen miles away for those drawn to the Lake District proper. The location works equally well as a base for exploring the historic sites and outdoor paths of the area, or for a quieter stay close to home.
