Nuthatch Cottage sits on the northern edge of the Lake District, where moorland and open fell stretch across the horizon. The setting is genuinely remote—23 acres of grounds with views toward the Scottish hills, yet only a few miles from the fell villages of Caldbeck, Hesket New Market and Uldale. The coast lies 16¾ miles south; Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall are within reach for a day out.

This stone-built cottage is arranged on one level, making it straightforward to navigate. Two bedrooms sleep four: one has a double bed, the other two single beds that zip together. Both come with their own shower room. The living space includes a wood-burning stove, dining kitchen with a full range of appliances (electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher), and doors opening onto a patio. Parking for two cars is provided on site, along with bike storage and an electric car charging point. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are covered. The private hot tub seats four and is ready when you arrive.

One dog is welcome. The cottage is non-smoking. A cot and high chair can be arranged on request. It suits couples, small families, or friends seeking a base for walking the northern fells or exploring the quieter Cumbrian landscape.

Lovely clean campsite. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. We had pizzas delivered to our pitch which were very nice. The hot tub pitch with private decking area was fab. Gorgeous views. We had a peaceful stay and will definitely return.

This was our first trip camping with our kids and we absolutely loved it. The facilities at the site were great and all kept to a very good standard. They were very clean and we really enjoyed the added bonus of a fridge and freezer to store food and drink. We also liked that we could rent a fire pit and have a fire both nights to toast marshmallows with the kids. The little shop on site is great and well stocked with any essentials you may have forgotten. The site is a great base for exploring the local area. We drove down to Ullswater and spent the day exploring the waterfall and lake and also stopped at Pooley Bridge and Penrith. The site is big but never felt too busy or crowded. A lovely couple of days spent exploring a beautiful part of the country with the added bonus of some great weather!

Excellent site to visit if you like Cumbria. Really well run site and is excellently maintained. Varied selection of pitches from camping to full cottages (and everything in between) The facilities are first class, very spacious toilet / washing / shower facilities. Nice and quiet location but still easy to get to by road. Second visit here and will definitely be coming back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovely camping experience! We stayed on an electric tent pitch and had a fantastic time. The campsite was peaceful, calm, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless, which was really impressive. A special mention for the thoughtful extras — having a dishwasher and hand wash facilities available was a brilliant touch and not something every campsite provides. A small tip for future visitors: make sure you bring your groceries with you before arriving, as the nearest supermarkets are around 20–30 minutes away. Planning ahead will make your stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a well-maintained, peaceful campsite with excellent facilities. We would definitely recommend it!
