The Garrison - John Collingwood Bruce Suite

The Garrison - John Collingwood Bruce Suite is a self-contained apartment on the first floor of a complex built on the remains of Fort Maia, a Roman settlement along Hadrian's Wall. Everything you need is arranged on one level: a combined living and dining space with a Freeview Smart TV, a kitchen equipped with electric cooking, dishwasher and washing machine, a bedroom with a double bed, and a shower room with walk-in access and heated towel rail. Fifteen steps lead to the entrance. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included.

The complex sits at Bowness-on-Solway on the Solway Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within 30 minutes of Carlisle, the Lake District fells, and Gretna. It's well-placed for walkers tackling the coast-to-coast route and for cyclists following the nearby cycle way. On-site parking for one car is available, and you have access to shared facilities including a gym. There's a small visitor centre explaining the Roman history of the site. The surrounding area draws nature lovers for its wildlife and birdlife; Hadrian's Wall itself runs through the locality. No smoking in the apartment.
