The Garrison - Ryan’s Shepherds Hut
Cumberland
View on Google MapsCouples and small families wanting a taste of glamping will find Ryan's Shepherds Hut at The Garrison, a holiday complex built on the remains of Fort Maia, a Roman settlement along Hadrian's Wall. The hut is a single open-plan space with a bunk bed (double below, single above), sitting area, kitchen and shower room all on ground level. You have the whole property to yourself, plus private parking for one car and access to shared grounds that include a gym and an on-site bistro.
The hut comes with electricity, heating, wifi, bed linen and towels included. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob for cooking; the living area has a TV and electric fire. Bowness-on-Solway itself sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Solway Coast, and the location works equally well as a base for walkers tackling the coast-to-coast route, cyclists using Hadrian's Cycleway (route 72), or anyone exploring Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle, the Lake District fells or southern Scotland—all within thirty minutes' drive. The Kings Arms Inn is nearby for meals out. No smoking inside the hut.
