Cockermouth is five miles away, Keswick twelve, and the beach eight—all within easy reach from Threapland Park, which sits just off the main road between Cockermouth and Carlisle. The Scottish Borders are also accessible from here. A pub lies within a mile on foot, and Moota Plant Centre with its coffee shop is nearby for a quieter outing.

This ground-floor lodge sleeps four across two bedrooms: a double and two singles. The open-plan living space has a sofa, Freeview TV and DVD player, while the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with a gas cooker, microwave and fridge. A shower room and washing machine are on site. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included. One dog stays free. You have private parking for two cars and a gravelled garden with wooden terrace and seating. There is no smoking inside.

The lodge forms part of a small group of chalets in a rural setting with views across countryside towards Skiddaw. It suits anyone wanting a base for exploring the Northern Lake District without the intensity of staying in a busier town.

WARNING. I own a caravan on Forest View adjoining Threplands park. There is a dog field situated on the park for all dogs to have a run around. My two Yorkshire terriers were attacked by one of two border terriers on Thursday. fortunately they were not hurt as I lifted them off the ground but was also jumped upon by this dog. I would like to bring this to everybody’s attention on these two parks that you must be aware of other dogs in the field or you will end up with abuse like I did from a nasty person who had no control over his dogs.

Clean and cosy holiday cottages - some of which are dog-friendly - situated near Cockermouth. We stayed in Rosella which was perfect with 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen. With the heating on, the cottage quickly got lovely and warm - perhaps TOO warm, but this is hardly a criticism staying here during a very wet and windy November week. The site location is great; Aldi is 10 minutes away and Tesco, Asda, Morrison's, McDonalds and KFC are all 20 minutes drive away. It's also situated close to the Lakes for sight-seeing; for example, Keswick is only 14 miles away.

Just under new management. Great location, beautiful views. Lots of improvements coming. Great little coffee shop next door. Great prices for holiday home ownership in Cumbria.
