Families and four-legged friends are warmly welcomed, with basic facilities including showers, toilets and drinking water. Open year-round, it's a straightforward, nature-focused base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway's dramatic coastline and forest trails. Just note there's no chemical disposal point on site, so tourers will need to plan accordingly.

Beautiful place and a very tranquil woodland site. The cabins are unbelievably cosy (we probably packed bedding that was too warm!) This is proper eco camping, not a 'glamping' site with over-decorated cabins that feel like a trip to some interior decor shop. If you want fairy lights and bunting, you'll need to bring your own (battery fairy lights please!) We were very impressed with what Elspeth has created in this special spot. You could be completely out of contact with the wider world if you chose, but if you need to stay in touch, we found there were spots on site with phone signal (EE), like up at the amenities block (and, surprisingly, in the loo at our cabin! Phone downloaded a message while I was using it as a torch to avoid putting the light on). Because it is completely off grid, if you need to charge phones, do it in daylight hours. Better still, for a longer stay, if you have your own portable solar panel, bring it. Bring a water bottle to refill too, because the water in the cabin loo basins (composting toilets) isn't drinking water, and you can then bring water down to your cabin from the kitchen (where it is UV treated drinking water) if you need to take medication or need drinking water overnight. There are electric lights in the cabins and cabin toilets, plus lights with motion sensor on the porches, and you will only need your torch for walking up to the amenities block at night at this time of year (late September). If you've stayed at an eco campsite before, you'll know all this, but if you are new to it, maybe not. The hot showers in the amenities block are excellent, and the shared kitchen has everything you would need. Hope to come back when the evenings are longer i.e. in summer.

Stayed here in our campervan and loved it. We went in October and were fully immersed in autumn woodland colours and animals. Such a unique campsite, entirely off grid, with a fully equipped shared kitchen and warm showers. Lots to do and see in the area including walking distance to the beach. Would highly recommend ☺️

A magical place. Elspeth has poured her heart and soul into it and you can tell. No frills, no waste, and extremely low impact on the beautiful woodland around. If you want a peaceful, off grid, almost-camping experience then you will be extremely happy. We lost signal (ee giffgaff and Vodafone) a good 15 minutes before arriving so plan for that possibility!
