Auchenhill Lodge
Dumfries and Galloway
Auchenhill Lodge is a detached holiday home sleeping four in two bedrooms, set in woodland close to Kippford on the Solway coast. The whole property is yours alone. Ground-floor living means everything is accessible without stairs: an open-plan space combines living and dining areas with a kitchen equipped for self-catering, including electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine. One bedroom has a double bed; the other has two singles. The shower room includes a walk-in shower. Heating, electricity and bed linen are provided, and you'll have private parking for two cars.
Outside, an enclosed rear garden and decked area offer space to sit with views over the grounds. The location puts you within reach of several coastal villages—Kippford itself is known for sailing and has a working harbour, while nearby Rockcliffe and Sandyhills are quieter seaside settlements. The Jubilee Path between Kippford and Rockcliffe follows the estuary shore and passes Mark of Mote, a distinctive granite outcrop with archaeological remains. The beaches here include stretches of sand and at low tide you can walk out to Rough Island. Inland, Orchardton Tower, Scotland's only round tower house, is worth a visit for its spiral staircase built within double walls. One dog is welcome; smoking is not permitted.
