Corwen sits within reach of several worthwhile destinations: the Llangollen Railway runs steam trains from there to Llangollen itself, where you can walk the canal and visit Plas Newydd. Ruthin, a few miles away, has medieval architecture including Nant Clwyd y Dre and the old gaol. Betws-y-Coed opens onto Snowdonia, and Chester lies further afield. Closer still, Rug Chapel (a CADW site) is quirky enough to detour for, and Rhug Farm Shop serves Welsh food in its farm shop and bistro.
The Barn is a converted stone building on two floors with countryside views across Gwyddelwern from the living room and courtyard. Downstairs holds a living room with a woodburner and 43" TV, plus a kitchen-diner with electric cooker, dishwasher and the usual appliances. Two bedrooms are upstairs: one with a zip-and-link arrangement (two 3ft singles), the other with a kingsize bed. The bathroom has a bath and shower. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. Outside, a private hot tub sits in the courtyard among the patio furniture, and there's space for two cars. Footpaths lead from the property itself. Smoking is not permitted. The nearest shop is three miles away; pubs and restaurants cluster two and a half miles off.
