About High Laning Camping and Caravan Park

Tucked on a traditional working farm less than five minutes' walk from the honey-stone village of Dent, High Laning offers spacious pitches—from backpacker spots to hardstanding for larger motorhomes—all gazing out over the spectacular sweep of Dentdale on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The family-run site doubles as a heritage destination: opposite your pitch you'll find the Dent Village Heritage Centre (complete with tales of the Terrible Knitters and the Dent Vampire) and The Woolshed, selling hand-crafted knitwear from local fleeces.

Campers praise the beautiful views, welcoming staff, and the proximity to Dent's pubs and cafés, though some note the facilities can feel insufficient at busy times. Endless dales walks and road-cycling routes radiate from the doorstep, while Sedbergh sits 15 minutes away for supermarket runs and the Lake District's family attractions lie just over half an hour's drive north-west.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in the Yorkshire Dales We’ve just spent a fantastic stay at High Lanning Camping & Caravan Park in Dent and would highly recommend it. The campsite is in a perfect location, just a short walk into the beautiful village of Dent. The village itself is absolutely charming, with cobbled streets, stunning stone cottages and a real old-world feel. In fact, at times it felt more like a little French village than somewhere in the UK. Margaret and her husband, who own and run the site, couldn’t be more welcoming. Margaret is very hands-on and clearly takes great pride in making sure guests enjoy their stay. A real bonus is that they also own the lovely café directly opposite the campsite, serving an excellent all-day breakfast and great coffee. It quickly became our morning stop before heading out for the day. Everything is within easy walking distance, including two friendly pubs, a village shop, a beautiful church and plenty of picturesque spots to explore. There are endless walks straight from the site into the Yorkshire Dales, making it ideal for walkers, cyclists and anyone who enjoys being outdoors. The site is also very dog friendly, which was perfect for us. The surrounding countryside provides plenty of opportunities for four-legged visitors to stretch their legs and enjoy themselves. If you’re looking for a peaceful, welcoming campsite in one of the prettiest villages in England, High Lanning is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be returning. 5 stars – a wonderful campsite, wonderful hosts and a wonderful village. 🏕️🐾🥓☕️

Decent place, but showers are disgraceful for the price you pay £85 for two nights you would expect them to be half decent and powerful. not at all. Not had money spent on the place for a while by the looks of things

Stayed for 2 nights over Easter,we were in a quite corner on the grass in a pickup with roof tent, directed to our pitch with specific instructions to drive on the 'gravel' it was all grass and not much of a gravel road underneath, the man was particular that we backed into our pitch. Set up no problem and electric hook up in easy reach. As we watched others be directed to pitches next to us many struggled driving on the gravel/grass and proceeded to get stuck in the wet ground causing deep wheel marks which left the owners very un happy!!! Although they advertise opening all year round? The rest of the field did look very packed in,think we got lucky for hat many couldn't access the grass pitches near us. Small toilet block with 2 sinks and some wash up sinks, always hot water, tidy area for the bins and easy access water point. Tried to make conversation with owners on campsite and in heritage centre, maybe chatty once you get to know them? Overall ok but looks like it can become very busy in peak season.
