About Travelodge Derby Chaddesden

Chaddesden sits on the eastern edge of Derby, close to the A52 and only a short run into the city centre, which makes it a practical base whether you're passing through or stopping for a few nights. Travelodge Derby Chaddesden is the local option here, a straightforward two-floor hotel with 46 rooms on Nottingham Road, geared towards guests who want a comfortable bed and an easy exit onto the main roads rather than anything fussy.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and the option of drinks on hand, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them. Staff are on hand around the clock at 24 hour reception, and breakfast and a restaurant are both on site, with a Toby Carvery next door for anyone after a proper sit-down meal. Free on-site parking is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and there's an electric vehicle charge point for those who need it. Pets are welcome too.

Some rooms show their age and can pick up noise from nearby traffic or corridors, so it's worth setting expectations at the budget level this hotel is aimed at. That said, the location does the heavy lifting: shops, pubs and restaurants are all within easy reach nearby, and Derby city centre itself is a short drive away for anyone wanting to explore further.

Overall satisfied with the stay but there were a few things I was unhappy with. It was really noisy doors slamming none stop, walls are very thin could hear someone sneeze from a different room. At 11pm a child decided to knock on my door 3 times, so probably not the best place to go if you want some peace and quiet. Overall the room was ok, was clean but carpets and walls very marked. There was only one plug socket in the whole room and the water from the shower ends up going all over the floor making it slippy. It is is a good location with some decent shops/ food places on the same street.

Next to a Toby carvery. If your room is at the back you are next to the outside garden. Plenty of noise and sounds of arguments screaming and shouting every night. I stayed here for 12 nights unfortunately so heard it every night not just one. This travel lodge is the place that time forgot, I don’t think they updated the rooms since the 1970s. Whiff of BO and shower gel as you go upstairs which is ironic as never any hand soap! They don’t even replace the tea and coffee you have to go and ask for it. Dirty carpets and curtains which it makes you wonder how clean the bedsheets are Certainly, one step away from sleeping in the car..

I know it’s a 2 star hotel but the absolute least I expect is clean sheets. The sheets were dirty and when the member of staff came to change them, they had brought in more dirty sheets!! Makes me wonder whether any of the bedding gets washed or if they just put them back in the laundry room and re-use 🤢 carpet has never been cleaned. Room had a horrible sick smell which was probably coming from the carpet… the only positive was the location was close to where i needed to get to and the staff were polite.

Good hotel with good staff, very dated though could do with a full refurbishment. To get into rooms, you have to use a physical key rather than a card like you would in a more modern hotel.
