Hare's Retreat is a ground-floor cabin tucked into one of the fields at Brosterfield Farm, just outside Bakewell. It works well for couples, or anyone after a quiet Peak District base with a dog in tow. The single bedroom has a kingsize bed; there's a shower room; and the living area combines a sitting space, kitchenette and sleeping quarters all in one. You get wi-fi, heating, bed linen and towels included, plus parking for one car and a garden with seating outside.

The kitchen has an electric hob, microwave oven and fridge, so you can cook or simply reheat. The cabin is one of three on the farm that can be booked together if you're a larger group needing more space. A pub sits less than a mile away. Bakewell itself—famous for its puddings—is close by, as are Buxton, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. The area is dense with walks and caves; Castleton and the Blue John mines, Matlock Bath and the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham are all within reach. No smoking inside.

We stayed here for just 1 night which we instantly wished we had booked a few night, we stayed in the broader field suite, an absolutely stunning room with a small bathroom and kitchen, penny and co are amazing there was literally everything in there that you could need, we brought our dog along and there was even a bag with bowls, towel and treats for the dog (I had brought all an amazing place that we will have recommended to everyone and will be coming back to visit again! Thank you my own anyway) but what a lovely gesture incase you’ve forgotten something. Beautiful farm, beautiful place, overal

Beautiful location and charming suite! Very clean and sufficient for our purposes. Also near the lovely town of Foolow with the highly recommended Bulls Head Inn (excellent food and service). Our family had a great stay. If you’re into outdoor activities (we went for the rock climbing opportunities nearby) definitely recommend this location.

A great property for a large group. The kitchen, dining and living space is great for a social get together and the cinema room ideal for a bit of downtime. All rooms were beautifully decorated and a lot of thought and time has obviously been put into the farmhouse property. Lovely location, with lots of lovely pubs nearby. Communication with the owners was also ideal. Highly recommended!
