Six Litton Mill
Derbyshire Dales
Photo: Google Maps
Six Litton Mill occupies a converted water mill on the River Wye, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. The Monsal Trail—an 8½-mile traffic-free route through limestone dales—runs from the doorstep, following the course of a former railway line between hills above the river. The village of Litton has a community shop, a 17th-century pub serving home-cooked food, and a green with ancient stocks. The twin viaducts that once carried trains to Manchester remain visible across the landscape.
Everything is on the ground floor, accessed by four steps. The open-plan living and dining space overlooks the river, and the kitchen is fitted for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. Three bedrooms, each with its own ensuite shower room, sleep six. The largest has a six-foot super-kingsize bed; the second has a double; the third has two singles. Essentials including electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels come with the booking. A travel cot and highchair are available, and there is parking for two cars on site.
No smoking inside the property.
