About Ashcroft Farm

With views stretching to Dartmoor National Park, this small north Devon site occupies two acres of smallholding farmland where barn owls and kestrels hunt overhead and hedgerows burst with colour come spring. The pitches ring the field's border, leaving the centre free for children (and dogs) to roam, while minimal light pollution means clear nights deliver genuinely starry skies. It's a proper wildlife haven, serenaded by songbirds at dawn and dusk.

Particularly dog-friendly, Ashcroft welcomes pets year-round and even allows owners to fence around their pitch; a dedicated field lets four-legged guests run free under supervision. Facilities cover the essentials—showers, laundry, chemical disposal, even a communal fridge and freezer—though the sloping grass pitches won't suit everyone. The rural setting feels wonderfully remote, yet the A39 lies just two miles away, and Woolsery village (shop, pub, Norman church) is a gentle 20-minute walk across the fields.

We stayed for one night at Ashcroft which is a perfect example of how simple can be perfect. No check in process, no complications, just a field with a few hook ups, a small utility block (almost a shed) in the next field, and all facilities you could ask for just in small scale. There is one toilet and one combined toilet/shower each for male/female, and washing up facilities. It's basic but beautifully clean and the showers nice and hot. There is a different bin for every type of rubbish you can think of (including dog poo). Details for bank transfer or payment by cash through letterbox are displayed in the utility block, and I just loved that warm trustworthy approach. Maybe different in the summer. It's quiet and peaceful and the birdsong in the morning was just lovely. Thanks Vicki.

A PIECE OF HEAVEN IN DEVON! A beautifully kept campsite, very clean facilities and hot showers, along with a Utility room. The pitches are HUGE and the field enclosed by hedging. Very peaceful and an ideal base for exploring - we had a tranquil stroll along the surrounding country lanes and visited the North Devon Wake Park (a 5 min drive away). Vicki, the owner is lovely, so friendly and helpful with info. We will absolutely be back!

We've had a lovely stay here. Peaceful with glorious views of the rolling Devon hills. The facilities are simple, but thoughtful and immaculate. Only 15 pitches, so never feels too busy! There's a selection serve milk kiosk nearby that does amazing milkshakes, the fish & chips nearby is really nice and the little shop next door is incredibly well stocked. Vicki is relaxed, welcoming and a lovely owner. We'll definitely back!!! Thank you for a lovely first two weeks of our trip!!!

I loved staying at this campsite. It's peaceful and surrounded by nature but not too far away from the local shops. It's in a perfect location to explore the area. The campsite is kept tidy and the facilities are perfect for what you need (hot showers!). It is cleaned regularly and well stocked with a fridge and freezer for communal use too.
