Oak Cottage

Built as a cider press and since converted, Oak Cottage occupies its own corner of a rural courtyard near Clovelly in north Devon. The property is yours alone, set within 16 acres of grounds that form a designated Wildlife Site, shared with other properties on the estate but not overlooked. Two bedrooms sleep four: one on the ground floor with a pair of single beds, one upstairs with a double. The bathroom, also downstairs, has a bath and shower. A woodburner in the living area provides cosiness on cooler days, and the kitchen is equipped for proper cooking with a range, dishwasher and the usual appliances. Bed linen, towels, WiFi and heating are all included, along with the initial fuel for the stove.

The grounds offer a large lawn with garden furniture and a sitting-out area; parking for two cars is on site. One dog stays free. Note that the garden has two steps, and there are two fenced lakes and a stream 200 yards away. The location puts you within easy reach of Clovelly's steep streets and harbour, Bucks Mills, Hartland and the wider north Devon coast. Westward Ho! and its two-mile sandy beach lie 12 miles west. Bideford, with restaurants and a weekly market, is the nearest town. RHS Rosemoor and various adventure parks are within striking distance for a day out, and the area offers coastal walks, golf, surfing and cycling.
