Loved it so much we came back again. This time we opted for the pre-pitched tent which was quiet, private, and came with everything you needed. Hot shower, compost toilet and washing up facilities close by - always clean and eco-friendly. Our pitch was just a really peaceful spot to sit out and watch the birds. Sue and Angie were the perfect hosts again. They sorted us out with locally-sourced meat, ice blocks and extra gas for the stove. And were kind enough to introduce us to the turkeys and chickens! As always, spending time with the rescue animals and chatting with Sue and Angie is our favourite part. Still not seen any hedgehogs - we keep timing it wrong. But we got some fusses from Pixie the cat. We left with some homemade jam and eggs which are delicious! Hedgehog Hideaway is on our radar for our next visit.

This place is incredible. It's amazing what Sue and Angie have achieved with the land in such a short amount of time - we really were living among the hedgehogs, fish, tadpoles, bats, birds and butterflies!! The campsite was so peaceful with a beautiful view of the sunset, and the shower was probably nicer than my own at home! We loved the firepit and that they provided a grill to cook on it too. Thank you so much Sue and Angie for an amazing stay and being super kind and friendly hosts, I'm sure we will be back!

What a magical place! We had 2 nights at the end of May in lovely sunshine and cool nights. I have never slept so well on any campsite. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Waking to birdsong with the dawn chorus (yes in May it’s quite early but easy to drift off again!), walking round the lake looking out for fox cubs and deer, meeting the many animals and generally feeling we’d struck (very) lucky with our last minute booking. Angie and Sue are the best hosts, super friendly and welcoming and they’ve thought of everything. We’ll be back 😊 and look forward to seeing how the re-wilded site develops over time. So relaxing, wonderful facilities and very welcoming hosts! We stayed for two nights and had the pitch to ourselves. Sue and Angie welcomed us, helped us to the pitch and told us some good local spots to visit. The campsite itself is small and quiet, the facilities were lovely and the setting is so peaceful. We were camping in the middle of nature and saw so many birds and butterflies and bats at night too. We also heard owls and crickets. We saw two beautiful sunsets and spent one of them walking around the lake. We loved meeting their sheep, goats, ducks, chickens and a hedgehog! We could tell Sue and Angie had put the same care into nurturing their guests as they did their happy rescue animals. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and took some duck eggs home with us. We could not have asked for warmer hosts or a more peaceful camp and we left feeling happy and refreshed. We will be back!
