About Downend Point Campsite
Tucked into North Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Downend Point Campsite puts you within a five-minute walk of Croyde Beach and half an hour's stroll from Saunton Sands along the South West Coast Path. The two-acre site, bordered by heather and hedgerows, offers grass pitches for tents and motorhomes, plus an on-site café-bar serving Sri Lankan curries, beer and wine through the day and evening. There's also a surf school, board hire and beach shop right here, making it a genuine surfer's playground.
Clean, modern facilities include coin-operated hot showers and wheelchair-accessible toilets, while the coastal path leads you to Baggy Point Cliffs in 45 minutes or inland to Croyde village's two pubs. Some visitors note the site can feel a little tired in places, but the sunsets over dinner and proximity to both surfing beaches and rockpooling keep people coming back. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the surrounding dunes and clifftops offer spectacular walking.

My stay at Downend point campsite was great from the first hello to the farewell. Henry was welcoming and showed me where to set up and the facilities. You do need to pay an additional £1 for a 5 min shower but this did not bother me as the facilities were always clean and available. Yes the site is a little more expensive than others but the access to the beach and views are second to none. Watching the sun go down over the sea whilst sitting in-front of a fire in a comfy chair… heaven!! The cafe right next door provides really good food and drinks too. I would highly recommend this site and will be staying there again in future visits.

First site on the way into Croyde, we hadn't booked and they managed to take us for a couple of nights. Not the cheapest but the location is unbelievable. Very helpful chap checked us in and helped level the motorhome. Clean site, great bar nextdoor with sublime burgers! Toilets modern but abused by some, very good by campsite / beach standards though. 15min walk into the village, 2 mins direct to beach. Would happily stay again, thank you :)

Such a gorgeous campsite and Henry was SO helpful! I had to change the dates due to a mistake on my part then a change of plan due to weather and he was really accommodating. When we arrived Henry helped us as much as possible. 15 mins into Croyde village and the path to the beach is directly opposite. The sunset and views were incredible. Everything you could ask for on your doorstep. Yes the site is sloped but that’s not a huge issue and we were offered help to level out. Thanks so much Henry, we’ll be back.

Great location. Limited facilities. Site is so sloped you can barely park. The receptionist is not helpful. At £42 a night you feel robbed! Next to a very busy road. I do not recommend.
