About Hollocombe Hideaway

Tucked down a quiet country lane near Holsworthy, Hollocombe Hideaway sprawls across 30 acres of Devon woodland where red and roe deer roam freely and buzzards circle overhead. The family- and dog-friendly site offers grass and hardstanding pitches beneath tall trees, with Dartmoor views from the grounds and woodland walks threading through the property past a resident badger sett. Campfires are allowed, making evenings under the canopy particularly atmospheric.

Though peaceful and remote, the location works well as a base for both coast and moor. Widemouth Bay's sandy beaches lie 15 miles away, with dog-friendly stretches and surf schools nearby, while Bude's family beaches are 25 minutes' drive. Dartmoor itself is half an hour inland, and Tavistock—with its weekly markets and independent shops—sits within 45 minutes. The five-star Google rating reflects the site's appeal to those seeking proper seclusion without sacrificing access to Devon's main attractions.

This is nothing short of a hidden gem! And i dont understand why! The hosts Natasha and Ade are a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble! The pitches are huge, plenty of open space. The views are incredible all around. Theres sheep, horses, chickens, ducks, pigs and the resident dogs all on site. Loads of walks on the site and just off site. Theres a woodland area with a stream running through. Ample dog walking areas. Feels like its in the middle of nowhere but also just a very shott drive to the nearest town of holsworthy and around 25mins from bude which has everything you will need for you holiday. Not sure why more people aren't raving about this place but i can understand why people don't because it is a hidden gem and they probably want to keep it that way. Always book direct with Natasha for best prices. Small on site shop selling essentials, toilet and showers always spotless. Showers are nice and powerful aswell! Small play area for children and also plenty of open space for them to run off steam. Visit this site and you wont be disappointed and just like us you'll be back time and time again!

This is the place to get away from the normal everyday life and switch off for a bit... even with kids towed along! It's off the beaten track quite literally, so much so you won't hear any road noise while you're there. We've just come back from a quick three night stay on a non electric grass pitch. I say pitch, but you could choose where to pitch up in the open field, and anywhere you choose has a glorious view of fields, farms and Dartmoor in the distance. As others have said, the facilities are spotless. It's not glamorous or modern but it's functional and very very clean. Washing up liquid and cleaning bits are provided at the washing up sink, and toilet roll, soap and paper towels provided in the toilets. There is a fridge freezer you can put small amounts of bits in if needed and a small shop to buy a few things in like marshmallows, snacks and drinks. If there are other kids staying on site, the site is small enough that when they use the small play equipment, they'll likely make camp friends and play games together like ours did. This does mean it's difficult to get them to bed at night but it's lovely to see them playing together! At night if you need a nighttime stroll to the toilets you might be treated to a clear view of the stars like we did. With no light pollution you can really enjoy the magic of the heavens, and it's magnificent! You can hire a fire pit and buy some logs too if you want to stay warm outside at night, all provided by the campsite. Thank you Natasha for making us feel so very welcome, you've got a great campsite and we'll try to come back soon!

The most wonderful stay from start to finish! We brought so much extra with us that didn’t need as everything is thought of, all the little details just made for such a relaxing stay. Even our toddler had everything she needed with a travel cot and high chair provided! The hosts are just the most loveliest of people too! And the views! Well couldn’t pick a more wonderful spot! Thank you for having us, we shall be back!

We got here on the 13th August the first thing you see is the amazing view. Already in love with the place. Then got greeted by the most amazing lady natasha. She's absolutely lovely makes you feel at ease. Explained everything we needed to know and was definitely more than helpful throughout the week. Toilets and showers where so clean. Although other guests could clean up after themselves at night. But they are cleaned every morning by natasha. And honestly I give them a quick wipe around everytime I used anyway. Bucket with mop is always there to use anyway to clean the floor. Thank you for an amazing stay emma and kevin
