About Ruby Country Camping
Ruby Country Camping sits in a natural meadow two miles from Hatherleigh in West Devon, where wildflowers and wildlife set the tone for a properly eco-minded stay. This is camping stripped back to basics—pitches are tucked into the meadow, campfires are encouraged, and the whole site feels refreshingly uncommercial. Dogs are welcome to roam, and families will appreciate the space and freedom for kids to explore.
Facilities are simple but sufficient: showers, toilets, and drinking water are on hand, though there's no motorhome waste disposal or WiFi. The lack of connectivity is part of the appeal here—this is a place to switch off, watch the stars, and wake to birdsong. It's an honest, low-impact camping experience that won't suit everyone, but for those chasing a quieter, more natural escape in West Devon, it hits the mark.

What visitors say
Just back from a 2 night stay using our own tent. Beautiful campsite, quiet and well maintained. Toilets and showers were very clean and tidy. Firewood available to buy and a fire pit at every pitch. Archery, badminton, lawn games and even rope swings for the kids to play with. Plenty of space for the kids to run around on the bottom field. No WiFi, no loud music- just what we wanted. Overall, we were very impressed with Ruby Country Camping.

Incredible campsite - exactly what we were looking for and more... We stayed in a yurt for 2 nights with 3 children. Yurt and kitchen well equipped. Super clean facilities / shower block /toilets etc - great play area with plenty of games to choose from. Site is very well kept and pitches are very well spaced apart and price is very reasonable - hosts really lovely too:) Thank you - we'll certainly return

Just finished a lovely two night stay in one of the yurts. Couldn't fault anything, it was very cosy, lots of extra blankets and nice sheltered area for cooking. There was a nice big play area for the kids, with footballs, bats etc. The toilets and showers were also very clean. Best campsite I've ever been to. The owners were also very friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely stay at Ruby Country Camping, we stayed in the rent-a-bell tent which was perfect for us and provided some shelter from the rain! Marc and Dinah were great hosts and came to welcome us and checked in with us each morning. They gave us some really good suggestions of things to do locally which we really enjoyed. The shower and toilet blocks are the nicest we have encountered when camping, you can tell Marc and Dinah have put a lot of thought into their site. Would highly recommend, we will be recommending to friends and family and would definitely come back ✨
